James J. McCarthy, Jr. is a life-long resident of the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, earned a B.S. degree from Juniata College, a Master's degree in business from Penn State University, and a law degree, cum laude, from the Widener University School of Law. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and has maintained an accounting and tax return preparation business for nearly 30 years. In addition, Jim has been recently elected to his eighth consecutive four-year term as the Harrisburg City Controller.
